The wildfire that tore across Table Mountain and on to UCT’s campus destroyed not only the physical archive of materials and records, but also aspects of historical memory. The object makes visible and tangible the loss of a library, representing not only UCT’s Jagger Library but also other archives, where materials and objects have been lost forever, and, in this case, where numbers (Dewey Decimal Classification) embody a larger set of meanings.

Woordkuns word inderdaad woord en kuns, maar dit is ook ’n geleentheid waar tien opwindende zines in A5-grootte bekendgestel word. Tien digters en tien beeldende kunstenaars/illustreerders het in pare saamgewerk om elkeen ’n unieke zine te skep, as’t ware klein, geïllustreerde digbundels.

The nominations for this year’s Woordtrofees Awards have been released. The winners, who will receive a certificate and a financial prize, will be announced on 13 November at an awards ceremony to be held at Oude Libertas Amphitheatre in Stellenbosch.
