Elsibe Loubser McGuffog, known in her capacity as poet-mentor the Poetry Whisperer, will be hosting a workshop at Iziko Slave Lodge this Saturday, 2 May 2026 from 10:00 to 13:00.

The event is part of the Suidoosterfees, and is organised in collaboration with Iziko and the South African Council of English Education (SACEE).

The workshop follows hot on the heels of a recent publication by Sandra Cee and Elsibe Loubser McGuffog, titled Waar die wortels loop, an illustrated lyrical narrative in three languages, exploring themes of belonging, growth and connection.

Saturday’s workshop is aimed at getting the public to write in their mother tongue. The outcome will determine whether another anthology can be published, as was done in 2025.

Waar die wortels loop is a separate collaboration between Sandra Cee and Elsibe Loubser McGuffog, developed with a focus on multilingual accessibility and engagement, particularly among young readers, including those attending farm schools. It brings together visual storytelling and a curated poetry component that invites reflection and creative response.

The public is encouraged to purchase the book or make donations to support the project.
