Vulture Productions invites you and your holiday spirit to engage in our upcoming showcase at the Baxter Masambe theatre from 19–28 December 2019. The showcase presents three unique stories, each story focusing on and exploring Cape Coloured culture and the Afrikaaps dialect.

JERRY, AN UNCONVENTIONAL HERO

Written and performed by Jeremeo Le Cordeur | Directed by Ian van der Westhuizen | With choreography by Lee Roodt

The story follows Jerry, a shy computer-nerd, inside an interrogation room. In a convoluted tale of action and absurdity, he faces shady, larger-than-life characters in potentially dangerous situations. He has to be brave and he has to learn that anyone can be a hero, even a nerd.

DUDE, WA'S MY BAKKIE?

MAMA

Written and performed by Chenal Kock | Directed by Jeremeo Le Cordeur | With choreography by Alfonzo Freemantle and Yaseen Manuel

Mama is a character-piece showcased through poetry and physical theatre. The story is told through various chapters that focuses on Chenal Kock’s 7-life-emerging themes: rebirth, identity, cultural exploration, self -discovery, language, freedom and the state of being, all of which is explored with the use of the Afrikaaps dialect.

Mama was adapted for stage within the EVS (European Voluntary Service) program based in Liverpool. Thereafter we had performances at Woordfees, Artscape Theatre and Vrystaat Kunstefees, where the production was nominated for Best National Fringe Production in 2019. Jerry, an unconventional Hero and Dude, wa’s my Bakkie? was first presented at Alexander Bar Theatre as a double-bill and also had performances at Woordfees, Vrystaat Kunstefees and Suidoosterfees, where Jeremeo Le Cordeur was awarded the NATi (National Afrikaans Theatre Initiative) Rising Star Award for 2019.

The duration of the shows are 30 minutes each, and is ideal for all audiences – from learners to adults at only R120pp. For further information please visit www.vulture-productions.com or contact us on 067 037 6401 / info@vulture-productions.com.
