My leaves stay green: a soupçon

  • 0

At the age of 13, André Hattingh was touring South Africa on a professional basis with her sister Jenny and the well-known duo Groep Twee. She completed her degree, settled in Johannesburg and became a star in musicals. Movie and television roles followed. Hattingh also transformed into a successful fashion designer.

Her music is available on streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube. One of the songs from her 2013 album Change your world is called “My leaves stay green”. This song was written during her journey through chemotherapy. It is also the title of her recently published book of “poetree”, a collection of pop-up poems inspired by trees that she shared on Facebook during the COVID lockdown.

Hattingh, being the performer she is, created a show around the book. She performed it at the 2025 Etienne van Heerden Veldsoirée in Nxuba, formerly known as Cradock. This is a soupçon shared with her permission. (See the video.)

Should you be interested in buying her book, she can be contacted by email at andrel@global.co.za.
