Seen elsewhere: Why I stand with #AndreDeRuyter

Another probably unpopular stand, we must discuss that some fossil fuel and even small nuclear power stations (not Russian monster-stations) will be a part of a just transition. Most importantly, a full opening of the market to solar and wind, led by trade union investment funds and the PIC mixed with business, local governments and households, must be organised on the basis of a state of disaster.

People are suffering the pain of income loss, family time interruption and the destruction of small businesses because of #eskomloadshedding.

Our entire economy is already in a precarious state because of inequality, debt, unemployment, intellectual dispossession of working-class children leading to a skills crisis.

The abuse of affirmative action and BBBEE procurement has destroyed state capacity and constructed the foundation for state capture at PRASA, Eskom, Transnet, municipalities, government departments, the lottery and so much more.

Enter loadshedding and the resignation of Eskom’s best CEO in 15 years … and the economy will … [add your prediction] if a cadre is deployed.

The #Eskom #Mafia’s sabotage of André de Ruyter is based on:

1. A crude exploitation of pain;
2. The promotion of ignorance;
3. An abuse of racial identities;
4. Political stupidity;
5. Opposition to renewable energy; and
5. Corruption … and more.

The working-class and broader society deserves so much better. I eschew populism and refuse to join the bandwagon against De Ruyter.

Gwede Mantashe, the bullying buffoon must be booted out of government.

Pravin Gordhan, whose leadership was indispensable in the resistance against state capture, must retire gracefully because his statist micromanagement is destructive of teams.

I am going to be controversial and suggest that a serious, experienced technocrat with a commitment to a just energy transition must be made Minister of Environment and Energy with responsibility for Eskom.

Socialists and social democrats should base our positions on justice with evidence not cries of “the racist is removed”.

We need more De Ruyters not less.
