Is jy een van die inspirerende prenteboekillustreerders na wie ons op soek is? Stuur vir ons drie van jou mees unieke illustrasies wat saam ’n storie vertel. Dit kan ’n bestaande of jou eie storie wees. Sluit die teks in wat by elke illustrasie pas, asook ’n kort opsomming van die hele storie (hoogstens 250 woorde). Stuur dit as ’n Word-dokument.

- Jy mag nie illustrasies inskryf wat al voorheen gepubliseer is nie.
- Jy kan enige tegniek of medium gebruik.
- Jy mag slegs inskryf indien jy nog nooit vantevore ’n prenteboek by ’n gevestigde uitgewery gepubliseer het nie. Jy mag wel inskryf indien van jou illustrasies al voorheen in opvoedkundige boeke of in ander formate of genres verskyn het (byvoorbeeld in digbundels, volwasse fiksie of op boekomslae).
- Illustreerders uit ander lande buiten die Verenigde Koninkryk, Frankryk, Suid-Afrika, Duitsland, Nederland en België mag ook inskryf deur hul bydraes op enige van die organiserende lande se webwerwe te laai. Ten einde kommunikasie vir al die beoordelaars te vergemaklik, moet die meegaande teks in Engels wees.
Laai jou illustrasies en teks op by www.wwpbic.com. As jy die eerste digitale keuringsrondte slaag, sal ons jou vra om drukstukke van jou werk te stuur. ’n Professionele groep beoordelaars sal die drie beste inskrywings uit Nederland, België, Frankryk, Suid-Afrika, Duitsland en die Verenigde Koninkryk kies. Die uitslae sal in September 2023 op hierdie webtuiste bekendgemaak word. Wenners sal ook per e-pos ingelig word. Wenkunstenaars se werk sal deel uitmaak van ’n reisende tentoonstelling in die deelnemende lande en die finale keuse van wenillustrasies sal ook in ’n internasionale katalogus gepubliseer en aan bekende internasionale kinderboekuitgewers by die Bologna Kinderboekebeurs in 2024 voorgelê word – ’n uitstekende geleentheid vir kunstenaars om internasionale blootstelling te verkry.

Are you one of the inspiring picture book artists we are looking for? If so, please send us three of your unique illustrations that together tell a story. The story might be an existing one or your own. Include the text that goes along with each illustration, as well as a short synopsis of the story, and send the file as a Word document.

Closing date for entries: 30 August
- The illustrations may not have been published before.
- You may use any technique or medium.
- You may only enter if you have not published a complete picture book with a trade publisher before. You are, however, allowed to enter if you have published educational books or other forms and genres before (e.g. in a poetry anthology, adult fiction, book covers).
- Illustrators from countries other than the United Kingdom, France, South Africa, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium are also allowed to enter the competition by uploading their work to any of the organising countries’ websites. To make communication between all jury members possible, your text must be in English.
Upload your entry with accompanying text to www.wwpbic.com. If you pass the first (digital) selection, you will be asked to send us hard copies of your work. A professional jury will select the three best entries from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, South Africa, Germany and the United Kingdom. Results will be announced on this website in September 2023. Winners will be informed by email. The artwork of the fifteen winning artists will be part of a travelling exhibition, which will be shown in participating countries. The final selection will be published in an international catalogue and presented to several leading picture book publishing houses at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2024 – an excellent opportunity for artists to find commissions.
