The duo Zanne Stapelberg (soprano) and Kathleen Tagg (piano), who has been described as “closet blues”, is performing in a special lunch hour concert at Unisa on Friday 19 September at 13:00 in the Miriam Makeba Concert Hall at Unisa.
The programme for the concert is titled Wordsong and was compiled by soprano Zanne Stapelberg and pianist Kathleen Tagg.
From George Gershwin and Hendrik Hofmeyr, Antjie Krog’s Jy raak my nie meer to Deon Meyer’s Bo-Karoo Blou, Wordsong explores the musicality of poetry and the deep connectedness of words and music. It juxtaposes song settings of poetry as diverse as James Joyce and Rainer Maria Rilke to Philip de Vos with piano works based on poetry, but performed without words.
The hall is located on the Unisa Muckleneuk campus. Entry is free.
