February is arguably the best summer month to get out and about in Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront has a fantastic line-up of Cool February Beats from3rd of February to the 10th of February. Unsigned local bands will also take to the stage in a search for undiscovered talent.
The highly acclaimed ISO will take the mic to kick start the Cool February Beats on Sunday 3 February.The band released their much anticipated fourth album entitled PIECE BY PIECE, in September 2012. The album signifies the band’s evolution and features their new sound, which is more dance oriented though still incorporates their signature sound; now more refined and developed. Fans can expect an inviting and eclectic mouth-watering mix of dance, rock, pop and indie music from this performance.
Sunday 10 February will see Trenton and the Free Radical work the crowd with their distinctive sound and conscious lyrics. This reggae-infused Afro-beat band’s sound is seductive, acoustic and urban; it elegantly marries catchy tunes with meaningful lyrics. Their influences are diverse and range from hip-hop, reggae and electro, the result is sufficiently distinctive and edgy. This contemporary African band’s songs have the energy and impact of anthems, their words pack meaning and their rhythms are ones you can’t help bopping to.
Every Saturday during February is dedicated to the V&A Waterfront talent search competition, “Take to the Stage”. Twelve unsigned bands have been shortlisted and will battle it out at the V&A Amphitheatre over the course of the month.
Performances on all days start at 18h00 and run through to 19h00.
