Shine party with a purpose

It's that time of the year when people don their glad rags and party the night away.

However, the inaugural Shine Party with a Purpose allows you maximum fun and the opportunity to do something good at the same time.

The Shine Party with a Purpose takes place at the Alexander Theatre on Saturday, October 18 from 19h00 with all funds going to the Teddy Bear Clinic for abused children.

Those behind the bash are not professional fund-raisers but rather a ragtag bunch of people including a strategist, brand manager and chiropractor. They've collectively attended enough Black Tie charity events (involving terrible food, tight shoes and ugly venues) to never want to go to one again. What they did want to do was to mount an annual hair-raising blow-out to raise money for charity. The result is the first Shine Party with a Purpose!

On the menu are frozen margaritas and daiquiris on arrival, a dinner of Thai curry served in individual boxes and a chocolate fountain for dessert. DJs will entertain guests until the early hours of the morning. Teddy bears, which will be donated to children, will be sold at the door and there's also a prize draw with great prizes on offer.

Tickets cost R300 a person. More details from shineexperience@hotmail.com or on 011 325 - 5096.

The Teddy bear Clinic is a non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing incidences of child abuse and helping children to overcome abuse. The services they offer include in-school training and educator training for teachers, parents and police.

By buying a ticket you can support The Teddy Bear Clinic and ensure more kids are kept safe and protected.
