🎶 It's the most wonderful time of the year! 🎶
It’s time for #ReadingAfrica Week! #ReadingAfrica is our week-long celebration of all things African writing. All things? You may be asking. And to that, we say: yes! All things. Poetry? Yes. Fiction? Yes. Memoir? Yes. Journalism? Yes. Picture Books? Yes. When we say all things, we mean it.
Joining in is simple: all you have to do is use the hashtag #ReadingAfrica or #ReadingAfricaWeek on social media posts that spotlight writing from the continent. You can choose to highlight a single author or work, or you could make a booklist with all of your favourites. We can’t wait to see all of the ways you'll be #ReadingAfrica this year!
Please be sure to use the correct hashtags to participate, #ReadingAfrica or #ReadingAfricaWeek, otherwise we will not be able to read your entries. And, please, do add something about and in your own language to the event! You can also tag #OokInAfrikaans, #siyafundaisiZulu, #siyafundaisiXhosa, and more – as long as you tag #ReadingAfrica as well! We would love to hear from you in as many languages as possible!
You can also help us celebrate by joining us at these three great events we’ve planned! You can register for one or all of these panels here.
And visit Bookshop.org to check out our two curated lists – one featuring some of our favorite history/historical fiction reads, and another with the work of some of our panelists.
Three free #ReadingAfrica events from around the world!
