The DAK Netwerk will stage its annual strategic conference over the weekend of 25 – 27 February 2022 and has lined up key role-players, covering burning topical issues. “2021 had been a resounding success for us in achieving our objectives and we endeavour to sustain the momentum, as there’s still a lot of work to do,” said Danie van Wyk, Executive Chairperson.

“We are particularly concerned about the significant phenomenon of moral decay in our communities. Also, poverty, crime and illiteracy that are directly proportional to each other,” Van Wyk added.

The Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, will be delivering the keynote address. He is expected to hone in on the social ills and highlight areas where DAK Netwerk can make significant contributions in alleviating these challenges.

The planning agenda for the weekend comprises matters like economic development, job creation, youth development and literacy intervention programmes. Delegates who will be in attendance are leading academics, business leaders, DAK Netwerk laureates and community leaders.

Van Wyk also alluded to the perceived apathy of Business SA to dig into these burning issues as well as government dragging its feet in combatting the scourge of poverty. He expressed the hope of sparking some interest in luring them to the discussion table.

DAK Netwerk will have a closed session on Friday, 25 February 2022, with the Premier’s address kicking off Day 2 at 10h00, Saturday, 26 February 2022.

The event takes place at the New National Hotel, Parow.
