Spectacular routes for walking and running. Breathtakingly beautiful views of District Six, Gardens, Bo-Kaap and the Atlantic Seaboard. Historical landmarks, commemorative medal and a koesister.

Yes, you guessed it. The Slave Route Challenge Powered by Brimstone returns on Sunday 23 February 2020 on the Grand Parade in Cape Town. It is our 10th Anniversary Year!

Our event caters for the avid runner/walker and novice with a Half Marathon, 10km Run, 10km Walk and 5km Fun Run/Walk on offer. An event which caters for the entire family and brings together our community.

The City of Cape Town, which has been a sponsor of the Slave Route Challenge since 2013, is again a supporter of the race event for the 2020 edition.

“The event enables participants to trace routes with historic significance and showcase some of Cape Town’s oldest communities. The City welcomes that the event shines a light on South Africa’s history while at the same time providing thousands of runners the opportunity to experience another quality event in Africa’s Leading Events Destination,” says Executive Mayor Dan Plato. The added appeal of this event is that it takes ownership of our past, changes the narrative of our heritage and transforms it into a legacy for future generations.
