Kriptaal: Exhibition opening with First Thursdays

Kriptaal is an exhibition of paintings, drawings and prints by Gideon Nel and Jotam Schoeman. In this collection of work the artists contemplate the mystery of the cosmic and the particular, each in the style of their own visual language.
Gideon’s work explores the cosmic patterns, rhythms and shapes of reality through vibrant acrylic colours on canvas. An underlying theme of Gideon’s work is the reinterpretation of Biblical metaphors and narratives in a contemporary context.
Jotam’s work, on the other hand, explores the richness of the particular through pencil on paper – preserving the ancient art of drawing in his studies of Cape Town.
The juxtaposition of the two artists’ work creates an exciting and dynamic dialogue. Join us on the 4th of April at 196 Victoria Road for a glass of wine, to view a presentation of selected pieces or to browse through a salon style gallery of miscellaneous work.
