Comedy, music and dance make the Baxter’s 2024 festive season line-up and New Year’s Eve party, perfect entertainment for this summer.
To usher in the summer, the Baxter’s festive season line-up for 2024 features comedy, music and dance with top South African artists, culminating in the hugely popular and exciting New Year’s Eve party on 31 December.
Celebrated comedians, Alfred Adriaan and Marc Lottering, join forces to bring Cape Town audiences their best material as performed over the last few years in Alfred and Marc, at the Baxter Concert Hall until 11 January 2025. This follows their extensive and sold-out tour locally and abroad, where the two household names in comedy have been packing out theatres to hilarious effect. Performances are at 19:30, Tuesdays to Saturdays, with 3pm matinee on Saturdays. The performance on New Year’s Eve will start at 21:00.
Loukmaan Adams’ Joltyd – Through the ages of music, in the Pam Golding Theatre at The Baxter until 4 January 2023, is perfect entertainment for the whole family. Performances are at 20:00, with Saturday matinees at 14:00 and the performance on New Years Eve will start at 21:00. The exhilarating theatrical journey celebrates the vibrant evolution of music and dance across the decades. The upbeat production, which will have audiences singing along and dancing in their seats, revisits some iconic sounds that have defined the different eras – from the timeless classics of Frank Sinatra to the beats and rhythms that resonate with today’s youth.

Basil Appollis and Grant van Ster direct a stellar cast which includes Jarrad Ricketts, Loukmaan Adams, Tashreeq de Villiers, Kashifa Blaauw, Xolisa Tom and the hilarious Mel Jones. They are joined on stage by a live band, under the musical direction of Charlton Daniels. Choreography is by Grant van Ster with dancers from the Figure of 8 dance company. The show highlights how music and dance have been shaped and influenced by local culture, connecting generations and creating shared experiences. From soulful melodies to electrifying anthems, Joltyd captures the spirit of each period, making it a joyous celebration for all ages.

The well-loved comedian, Schalk Bezuidenhout, also known as Santa’s helper, brings his Krismis variety show, Schalk Bezuidenhout’s Krismis Bonanza, to the Baxter Studio for a limited season only, until 23 December. Performances are Tuesdays to Saturdays at 19:00 and Saturday matinees are at 15:00. With jokes way funnier than those one-liners found in a Krismis cracker, it’s sure to be a night out that is guaranteed to get audiences in the holiday spirit. The entire line-up is a surprise with some big names and some brand-new acts set to entertain, making it the best gift this festive Krismis.

Set to be a highlight on the Mother City’s December and January entertainment calendars, the Baxter’s summer, festive season programme is the ideal, much needed tonic at this time. The fun and festivities will peak with the usually sold-out New Year’s Eve party. True to tradition, some of the artists will lead the countdown in the foyer on 31 December after the performances, when the party begins. The two shows to choose from are Joltyd and Alfred and Marc, both which will start later on the night at 21:00. Ticket prices include entrance to the party, a complimentary glass of bubbly or juice, a live band and DJ Chad on the decks, who will play many favourite tunes to help ring in the New Year with joy and goodwill.
