The signs is a dynamic, Broadway-style musical written and directed by Midlands creative Audrey Mbuyazi. This original production offers a fresh and unexpected retelling of a well-known story – from a provocative new perspective.
Written in 2005 and now presenting its eighth run, The Signs has been enjoyed in the Joburg Civic Theatre and various other venues across the country. Witty, colourful and emotionally resonant, the musical combines sharp, humorous storytelling and diverse musical pieces with themes that invite reflection and connection.
This iteration involves a vibrant local community theatre cast, mentored and coached by Mbuyazi alongside local dancer and choreographer Megan Sterling, resulting in a high-energy performance that celebrates local talent and collective creativity.
The signs is family-friendly (parental guidance for children under 8) and is engaging, accessible theatre for a wide audience. A compelling night of musical theatre that surprises, entertains and lingers long after the final curtain.
