"Past, Present, Future" by Lou-Mari Burnett

Past, Present, Future

I carry the memories of yesterday
So that memories will be memories
And the present will be today

I carry with me hope of your return
A gift that will hurt
A memory that will always burn

I know it’s all in the past
and that it won’t last
But why does the present frighten me so?
And the future which I don’t know
never will let us go

CHORUS:
For you were then, you are now
And you will be till the end
You were never gone to begin with
Therefore it’s you I want to end with

Although you made me see
that whatever we would be
was not to be then
but remains a question of when

What memories do you want me to throw out?
What to leave in doubt
and make new room for you?
So that there will be a future of two

CHORUS
