Open letter to Open Stellenbosch

  • 3

We, as Afrikaners (white Africans), say to Open Stellenbosch and to all Africans and the world that our name confirms our Africanness. We were born here and our ancestors (stamvaders) arrived here hundreds of years ago in 17th century wooden ships and Open Stellenbosch should know that we have the right to be here and are going to stay here, as we have no other home but the southern part of Africa. Our language developed here on the African veld. We find it rather strange that other Africans insists on instruction in a colonial language in Stellenbosch, while nearby institutions fully provide for them, but Stellenbosch will, nevertheless, help them as long as they remember that we will not abandon Afrikaans. We have doubts about some of their friends and whether OS members are all serious students.

We agree with archaeologists who say that the colour of all people was black, but through an evolutionary process some of us became lighter as a result of a trek, long ago, from the cradle of mankind to Europe. Though the colour of a man's (or woman's) skin could be described as black, even red, yellow or white and is caused by more or less sunshine, it is not important and of an evolutionary nature. The point is that all people are originally from Africa and are basically the same. We, the Afrikaners, left our African birthplace as blacks for Europe and are back in the birthplace of all nations for a couple of hundred years and intend to stay here, not as anyone's superiors or inferiors, but as Africans (Afrikaners) who are making a contribution to Africa, not as whites, but as Afrikaners. We no longer stress our colour but stress the fact that we are here and are going to stay here and are making a positive contribution to Africa, whether it is liked or not.

Black racists attitudes are no better or worse than other racists attitudes, but will only make us more determined to stay in Africa and we will, in any case, make our contribution.

Kommentaar

Al my handboeke was of in Engels of in Nederlands.

Studentelewe was wonderlik.
