Official Album Launch Concert for Soul of Fire.
Zanne Stapelberg and Kathleen Tagg

The time has arrived for a momentus celebration in the lives of singer Zanne Stapelberg and pianist Kathleen Tagg. They release their first CD under their own names at the beautiful Fugard Theatre on December 13th at 8pm, and invite you to join them for the concert and special guest reception afterwards.

Soul of Fire is an hour-long production conceived by Zanne Stapelberg and Kathleen Tagg as a vehicle for the magnificence of music from Spain and Latin America. Zanne sings some of her signature classical Spanish songs alongside the instrumental tangos of Piazzolla in new, original arrangements, Zarzuela, and arrangements of haunting folk songs from Spain, Argentina and Brazil.

This is the third Stapelberg-Tagg collaboration, and they are enlisting the help of Cape musicians Piet de Beer (violin), Charles Lazar (bass) and Joseph Avergel (percussion) to fuel their live show that has toured South Africa over the past year.

The CD represents an immense and exciting personal journey for both artists, and they have been working on the final product since going into the studio in July.

Help them celebrate in style at the Fugard in Cape Town.

“An exhilarating sonic journey, “Soul of Fire” more than explores the music of Spain and Latin America; it enters into the vortex of the style …an ensemble performance that glittered with interpretative panache…

CUE Magazine from the South African National Arts Festival

If you have happened upon the term virtuoso before, I suggest you fold it away neatly when in the “closet blues” presence of duo Kathleen Tagg and Zanne Stapelberg. Words will fall short… an untamable, and unforgettable, venture…”

What’s On in Cape Town

“…their art drowns their audiences in deluges of sound and emotion, as they wage war against the musical predictability that would corrode their work and extinguish the blaze of their souls…”
