With this exhibition, students of Leon Fourie show the copies they made of some famous paintings by old masters. These students not only explored the technical skills but also discovered the absolute mastery of the classical realist schools. Through a pain-staking copying of classical masters, Leon’s students gained an immense admiration for the discipline and dedication of these famous artists of the past, and what is more, they realized their own creative abilities and artistic talents. In other words, the students found a reflection of themselves in the beautiful works they produced. Hence the Mirror effect suggested in the name of the exhibition.
The exhibition is opened by Leon Fourie on Friday, 3 February 2012 at 18:30 for 19:00 and runs until 25 February 2012. A walkabout will take place on Saturday 11 February 2012 at 11:00.
