Inspired by The Critics
Take a look at the sky, what do you see?
I see more then we all could be
I should constantly keep myself
from becoming frustrated by the inner me
One life influencing another
Stop going around hating your brother
Because life is more than just me
more than just you and more than just this
Stop staring down at the first frame
and start reading the whole cartoon
Maybe this is all it is; just a cartoon
and we’re all just part of a big platoon
And one day, one day we will see what we have done
What we have become
It’s time to start working together, together as one
My value and yours, equally the same.
I am no better just because of this name
A small drop in a big pond
But it’s the one drop
that can cause the crack and lead to the flood
I’m tired of this hate, the blaming and the blood
There once was a man, though he’s very clever
Got caught red handed, was made a bandit
But came out and made a comeback greater than ever
It starts with forgiveness and giving each other a chance
Just learn from the man
who went by life spreading love like an umbrella
Blocking out the critics and the hate
He now goes by as Nelson Mandela
It’s not about the start, but more about the finish
Bite off more than you can chew then chew it all up
Look life in the eye and say “Is that all you got?”
