The Lyric Theatre hosts emerging comic talent in The Winners Lap Showcase.
The future of comedy is hot and Gold Reef City Casino is excited to be hosting South Africa's brightest emerging comic talent in The Winners Lap.
This brand new event follows on the success of the 2nd Annual South African Comic's Choice Awards and aims to give a platform to the most promising up-and-coming comedians.
According to event organiser Keiron Whitemore: "Everyone knows comedy has grown exponentially over the last few years, with the big acts getting huge amounts of coverage and attention. In the spirit of the awards, we decided to create an opportunity for the comics who are still rising up the ranks to play at a beautiful big venue, and so we booked the Lyric for them."
He adds that while many may expect the winners to be featured - these are top entertainers who get plenty of work anyway, this show is about giving the freshest and newest talent a chance to take centre stage.
The headliners of each half will be the award winners from the Best Newcomer, the BlackBerry Breakthrough Award and the Audience Choice Award.
These acts will be supported by nominees in these categories.
A brilliant line up has been assembled including Dillan Oliphant, Tats Nkonzo and Sifiso Nene, along with Robby Collins, Mpho Popps Modikoane, Jason Goliath, Donovan Goliath and Monique Nortje.
The Comics Choice Awards Winners Lap Showcase will take place at 20:30 on 7 and 8 December at The Lyric Theatre. Tickets are priced from R100 to R285.
