An Auckland builder has been stabbed with a pair of scissors in an apparently random daylight attack.
Adrian Bezuidenhot was walking along a south Auckland street at about 2.30pm today when a station wagon stopped and three men demanded his wallet, 3 News reported.
When he refused they got out, stabbed him with a pair of scissors, struck him with a club, and took his wallet.
He received wounds to his chest, arms and head, and was treated at Auckland’s Middlemore Hospital.
His friend, Rhys Barron, told 3 News that Bezuidenhot was lucky to be alive, as the scissors narrowly missed vital organs.
Barron said his mate was a hard-working Christian.
‘‘We just work as hard as we can every day. This was on a Sunday. We were working. We just work as much as we can and try to get a good life for ourselves. I just don't understand where this has come from or what's wrong with people to do this.’
