PRETORIA NAAMSVERANDERINGS: 14/6/13 The order prevented the city from removing old street names, and ordered it to re-install old signs that have already been removed. The order was granted after an urgent application by civil rights group AfriForum pending the outcome of its application to set aside Tshwane's 2012 resolution to change the "offensive" names of 25 streets.
23/8/13 The North Gauteng High Court has granted an urgent interdict preventing the ANC in Lesedi, Gauteng, from marching to Hoër Volkskool Heidelberg on Friday, lobby group AfriForum said.
F/State Website Probe: 5/9/13 The exorbitant amounts alone are worrying, and the further one reads through the documents, the clearer it becomes that there are too many discrepancies," Free State AfriForum organiser Cornelius Els said.
He said the tender was worth R119.6m, but that the service should not have cost more than a few hundred thousand rand.
26/6/13 Court applications will be launched against 43 municipalities across the country for information about staff competency levels, AfriForum says.
30/5/13 The SA Human Rights Commission says it will look into a complaint by civil rights group Afriforum regarding farm murders.

12/4/13 AfriForum's staff have refused to register for e-tags and are urging Gauteng residents to do the same
11/4/13 (Spesiaal vir jou Jan Rap) "Judges should ask for South African courts to operate multi-lingually, and not for one language only to be used as [a] matter of convenience," said AfriForum deputy CEO Alana Bailey. "The argument that most South Africans understand English amounts to a disregard for the rights of minorities, which is contradictory to the spirit of the Constitution."
28/2/13 Civil rights group AfriForum has won its application to reverse a decision to exempt certain municipalities from the Consumer Protection Act.
25/2/13 Johannesburg - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is considering investigating Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa for alleged abuse of power and coercion, the lobby group AfriForum said on Monday. AfriForum deputy CEO Ernst Roets said this had been confirmed in a letter. "The letter was sent in reply to a complaint lodged by AfriForum against Minister Mthethwa in January, regarding his handling of the march protesting against farm murders... which took place on 1 December 2012," Roets said in a statement.
4/7/13 A report on financial irregularities in Madibeng has recommended that criminal cases be opened against its municipal manager, and the heads of corporate services and IT.
