Jean Dreyer

Jean Dreyer is a visual artist. Her interest in the interaction between text and image feeds into her art (either as black ink sketches, mixed media collage sketches, sculptural texts and artist books, or her oil on wood panels).

In her most recent solo, she explored the idea of an art exhibition as a conceptual poem.

She hosted an open conversation with a group of poets and artists on the entanglement between the textual and visual within an artwork and is the curator of the group exhibition artwords.

"When text is written in ink, and clay writes as words, the collaboration between Benjamin Coutouvidis and Katherine Glenday forms a collage of sentences in tones of red and green."

This is a blog series in dialogue with artwords, a group exhibition on text and art. Written contributions – posted in the forthcoming weeks on this LitNet platform – offer conceptual perspectives on the exhibition, and engage with the process and product of featured artworks. The opening text is by Jean Dreyer. This exhibition opened on 10 September at the Gallery @ Glen Carlou (on the Klapmuts Road).
