The well-known Akustika Chamber Singers, directed by Christo Burger, will perform in a very special concert with organ and piano in a programme of the Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt, in the beautiful Enoch Sontonga Hall at Unisa on Sunday 21 October at 15:00.

The choir, established in 2005 by Christo Burger, will be joined by Anneke Lamont (piano and organ) and violinist Samson Diamond for an exceptional programme consisting mainly of works by Arvo Pärt.

This hall, with its warm acoustics, is ideal for a choral performance.

Arvo Pärt in 2011

Arvo Pärt, born on 11 September 1935, is an Estonian classical composer and one of the most prominent living composers of sacred music. His minimalistic style is very popular.

Since the late 1970s, Pärt has worked in a minimalist style that employs his self-invented compositional technique, tintinnabuli. His music also takes inspiration from Gregorian chant.
