December 2013 sees singer songwriter Arno Carstens performing a series of unplugged shows in the Western and Eastern Cape backed by David Watkyns and Gus Warden. The 90 minute unplugged performance, with Arno on acoustic guitar, Gus on percussion and David on trumpet and keyboard is a powerful acoustic set, that includes some beloved SA tracks, including the hits Another Universe, Hole Heart, Dreamer, Emergency and Two Dogs as well as the legendary crowd pleasers from his career as the lead singer of SNG, Blue Eyes, Genie and Little. It is an elegant and sophisticated rousing rock performance.

During his career as the lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls and subsequently as a solo artist, Arno Carstens has released 10 studio albums, had over 20 top ten singles, won 5 South African Music Awards and shared the stage with legends of the music world including U2, The Rolling Stones and REM.
He has toured extensively in SA, UK, Europe and USA, headlined every major South African festival and performed at some of the most legendary international music festivals including Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, V Festival, T in the Park and Hard Rock Calling.
Arno has released 4 solo albums, Another Universe (2003), The Hello Goodbye Boys (2005), Wonderful Wild (2010) and Atari Gala (2012). He is currently working on his 5th solo album, scheduled for release March/ April 2014.

GUS WARDEN
Gus received his South African Jazz Colours at the age of 19 and made his international orchestral debut in 2005. He has performed with many South African greats, including Arno Carstens, 7th Son, The Nomadic Orchestra, Jimmy Dludlu and Anton Goosen, as both drummer and percussionist. Gus, along with several international partners, is at the forefront of a new brand of music education, a project he has been passionate about since completing his second degree, a BMus in Jazz Performance and Production from the University of Cape Town. Gus' holistic approach to drumming is exciting and fresh. He is renowned for his innovative and unique use of instruments, and can literally turn a kitchen sink into a fully-fledged percussion instrument. Drawing from his roots of Classical, Blues-Rock and Jazz, Gus adds value by giving colourful expression and passionate creativity to any stage that he sets foot on. He is a well-rounded artist who also sings backing vocals and is a regular fixture as a session musician at Rocking The Daisies.
DAVID WATKYNS
David Watkyns is a Cape Town based trumpeter, composer and songwriter. After studying Bmus Jazz Performance on trumpet and piano at the South African College of Music (at UCT), David has heavily integrated himself into the rock and jazz music scene around South Africa. Whilst working and performing with Arno Carstens, Jon Savage (Cassette) and managing his own jazz band State Of Swing; he also composes music for short films and documentaries. His range of instruments include trumpet, flugelhorn, piano, guitar, and drums; and has performed with various top South African and International artists including Jimmy Dludu, Judith Sephuma, PJ Powers, Art Matthews, Chris Cape (UK), Mike Rutherford (UK) and bands such as Freshlyground, The Plastics, Taxi Violence and The Mike Campbell Big Band. David also annually plays at festivals such as The Cape Town International Jazz Festival, The South African Jazz Conference, The Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival and Rocking The Daisies.
