The popular American pianist Spencer Myer is back on his sixth South African concert tour after winning the Unisa International Piano Competition in 2004.
Mr Myer will perform at Unisa on Saturday 26 May at 18:00 in the Enoch Sontonga Hal on the Sunnyside Campus.
Enjoying a successful international career, he has won audiences over with his amiable personality and sensitive playing combined with the necessary virtuosic capabilities.
Most recently he received rave reviews for his debut in the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London.
A few years ago Myer treated Pretoria audiences to marathon performances of the complete set of five Beethoven Piano Concertos with the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa under the baton of the Dutch conductor, Arjan Tien.
His programme on 26 May includes the Sonata in G major by Haydn, Book I of Debussy’s Preludes, Années de pèlerinage (Deuxième année: Italie) by Liszt, Iberia, Book IV by the Spanish composer Albéniz and Moskowski’s Caprice Espagnol.
Tickets for this event are sold only at the door at R85 for adults and R65 for students and pensioners.
