All ears

One aspect of freedom is
access to different views
to listen is to exercise such freedom

opening the portholes of the ears to
let in more sounds
new histories and different futures
tacking against the prescribed thoughts

allowing ideas to
play on the eardrum
be hammered on the anvil
gallop over far, deserted plains
slowly sail along the cochlea
and evolve in the brain

so that when I die and my flesh is burnt away
where my head was may there lay
such a rich diversity of shells
as at Haga Haga bay.
