Switching lanes I changed the gear
Exhausted by this endless road
I'm just a car on a highway of cars
Nowhere to go, yet still I roam
Driving,
through the darkness
Standing by the road, saw a homeless man
Something about him sent a tremor
like lightning down the highways of my spine
then I saw myself in the rear-view mirror
Stumbling,
through the darkness
I'm in the nexus, of a crisis
Can I just pretend I didn't see
or do I offer him a ride?
Slamming on the brakes, I turned around
To go save him from the dark
I learned the value of an open hand
To give is what fuels the heart
Shining,
through the darkness
