Are you a new writer in need of guidance & inspiration or an experienced author seeking tips on how to write a youth novel?
Maskew Miller Longman have invited Dr Cecilia du Toit to conduct youth novel workshops to inspire the entrants of the 2013 competition. Cecilia has lectured in Children’s Literature in the Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria.
Dr Cecilia du Toit has more than three decades’ experience as educator and has taught literature and language studies at both secondary and tertiary level. As a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Education of the University of Pretoria she was also responsible for the Children’s Literature modules and endeavoured to actively engage her students’ interest in books and generate enthusiasm for literature education in general and reading practices in particular. She is an avid reader and an eager writer and hopes that the MML writing workshops will fill the participants with the will and some wherewithal to start – or complete – writing engaging youth novels.
Dates of the workshops are as follows:
Durban: 15 February 2012
Cape Town: 16 February 2012
Polokwane: 21 February 2012
Midrand: 22 February 2012
If you would like to attend please send a one-page motivational letter, indicating which workshop you would like to go to, to Natasha Phillips at fax 021 531 0716 or e-mail: Natasha.Phillips@mml.co.za.
