"Yellow Lights" by Gareth Mostert

Yellow Lights

The bottle stands there and shines
lost between the lines
Been down this road so many times
it’s hard to find
redemption for his crimes

CHORUS:
Starry yellow lights shoot by
as he sits gazing, feeling high
And finds a blissful emptiness
as black space takes up problems’ place

Having drink after drink
trying hard not to think
about where he's been
He wishes the pain would cease
so that he could finally find peace

Vision hazy
Judgment clouded
Time for escape
Reality shrouded

It’s taken effect
he's drifting away
Problems disconnect
drinking reality away

CHORUS

Awakening to an aching head
dying far too slowly in his bed
Reality dragging him out of his hole
to face the wrath of his broken soul

But he won't fight
he'll just wait till tonight
Where he'll see those yellow lights
and black space taking up problems’ place
