"Words disappearing into nothingness" by Caroline Ashington

Words disappearing into nothingness

Words disappearing into nothingness,
Thin barbs twisting, piercing.
Soul-blood drips into my Being,
Coagulating into hard unfeeling lumps,
Behind which scars hide.
Spiralling down, down into the darkest depths,
They hide.
Nightmares of uncertainty, voiceless pain.
Twisting bonds scraping, searing knots against a tender Being.
A wounded bird unable to fly,
Wings beating in futile hope.
Here in the Dark, the bound are free.
No light against imperfections.
Yes, here they can hold up their hands to the wordless silence,
And dance as the free.
