What We Are

Here I go again
on how much these things mean to me
Maybe I was not meant to go
and maybe that was the right choice to make
And who knew the small talk
would bring you into my life?
For a moment i lost perspective on life
and you brought that back to me
You made me see the positive in all aspects
Then we laughed
Then we cried
Then we apologised
Then we forgave

And yesterday we were fighting
but today we moved on
Because the day before I lost a friend
but today I made hundreds of them

And for a moment
I thought the world doesn't understand me
But you had answers to my questions
I thought we kissed, but nothing said
I guess we tried
and the music in my head is loud
Playing confusion
It was me messing up
and through the mess
you pressed pause
Then we laughed
Then we cried
Then we apologised
Then we forgave

And as I stand at the airport
I realise it's all over
And I cry as I’m leaving a friend behind
but I feel secure knowing you will return
Yet the music is not making it better
because it all reminds me of you

How we laughed
Then we cried
Then we apologised
Then we forgave
