Welcome to the Ocean

Better learn to swim fast
or your first swim will be your last
You're in dangerous waters here
and to be clear, you have plenty to fear

So forget imagination for an education
Forget moral values for compensation
Got to be quick, got to be fast
Hope and pray, maybe you'll last

And through the rippled ceiling of the sea
the sun creeps in false hope of being free
But evil lies under, lurking in the dark
deep down in the shadows is the shark

Your only goal is to stay alive
Got what it takes and maybe you'll survive
But even if you thrive
you'll always be at risk

Because no matter how much you accomplish
you'll always answer to a bigger fish
And his teeth are sharper
And his wits are sharper

Years have passed since you made your way
And you'll make a wish
that you weren't such a big fish
Because your teeth are sharper now

And in a moment’s bated breath
as your prey succumbs to death
Through the eyes of the dead
lies the truth you have grown to dread

And as you watch all the small fish hurry away
you realize in utter dismay
That you have become what you hate
and by now it’s far too late
