Waiting to Exhale

There is just another empty silence as you arrive
It leaves a bitter sweet taste on which you thrive
Your air, your freedom, your blood diamonds and your demons
Screaming, swallowing, sacrificing our lack of restrictions as only humans
You can’t hide your revulsion or regret, for you are already deaf and blind

When love, honesty, family
When I start to smother you, you have already resigned
From hero to zero, from father to stranger
From outgrowing your lap to your heart
A series of misfortunate events made me petrified
doubtful and drove us apart

Still I am waiting for you to come halfway
Don’t let the demon in your head start to play
They have a wicked sense of humour
Cold but tranquil in your veins
without love, honesty, family you are left with no armour
