Vagabonds and Vagrants
In this town of vagabonds an’ vagrants, amidst that fragrance of piss on pavements
Is a masquerade of this blatant hatred towards this world that forsook and betrayed us
Doing what we can everyday to survive, knowing it could all just change on a dime
While trying to keep it real an’ stick to our lines
though it’s strange how we always seem to change all the time
And I’m inclined to find that society’s blind
an’ losing your mind’s just a sign of the times
And at times our eyes are just wasted potential
in the wrong direction, never paying enough attention
And don’t make me mention the tension I’m bent in
from all those years I spent growing up in Kempton
‘Cause no amount of venting could ever put a dent in
the lack of compassion that town was expressing
‘Cause there’s kids begging in the street for something to eat
relying on whatever they can shine on
That man’s strapped for cash, digging in the trash
hoping to find something he can dine on
Doing things to survive that most folks would find wrong
while we moan an’ whine when we gotta get our grind on
actually our audacity has to be the tragedy, as we sit back passively
But for how long?
See, I don’t mean to be mean, I just mean to come clean
‘Bout obscenities in life that I don’t need
Though right now I can see, they’re as ripe as can be
So I believe I’ll do what’s right for me
‘Cause rightfully it’s my right to be, right to breathe an’
my right to leave, so I’ll write my plight without self-righteous needs
An’ put it your sight for ya eyes to see
‘Cause yeah, we all dream of fortune an’ fame
to travel in style via Porsche or a plane
Or just to own a portion of orchids in Spain
but the unfortunate shame, is we’re doing it in vain
All we should be doing is perusing the name
of the one that made us an’ the one that came
Assumed a human frame then took the pain
so we don’t have to pay for our ignorant ways
I know this for certain, I feel the word surging
cutting through my life like the blade of a surgeon
Giving me a full body blood transfusion
the fusion of music and this beautiful merging
‘Cause man, this is urgent, I pray everyone has heard this
‘cause everyone deserves to live a life of purpose
You may not be perfect, but you’re far from worthless
‘cause we’re all unique creatures just beneath the surface
So open your eyes and witness with a free view
The people around you and what we’ve all been through
Empathize, love and be nothing but see-through
With nothing to hide, ‘cause your blood is red when you bleed too
