“The mirror image” by Robyn Radcliffe

The mirror image

You took a moment to reflect, and gazed at your reflection
The mirror image looking back held hope of non-rejection
The eyes caught in its cold glass frame sought a flicker of acceptance
They bored through you, mocking, untrue
The image made you wince
You reached out with warm finger tips, to make tangible contact
It shattered then, distorted sense of self upon the impact

The mirror image smiles and you return the loving sentiment
The eyes a wealth of wisdom as they gaze at you in wonderment
They tell a story steadfast in unspoken, serene acknowledgement
Of who you are becoming, still evolving, a being in this moment
Who reflects as your reflection tells your truth, in time, your testament
