"The Dreamer" by Paddy Gobel

The Dreamer

She’s a dreamer, lives her life in the past, in yesterday
A little frail, a little touched some people say
Romeo and Juliet by a different name
Old romance, she says in life things never change
She’s a dreamer, a lonely dreamer

Just a dreamer, a lonely dreamer
She walks alone now, a beautiful face that haunts your dreams at night
Like a ghost that shimmers and floats in the pale moonlight
Believes in everything she sees on the silver screen
Bogart, Munro, Loren, Jimmy, Dean
She’s a dreamer, a lonely dreamer

Just a dreamer, a lonely dreamer
Waits at the station in the pouring rain for the handsome man that never came
He’s never there, she doesn’t really care if she can keep on dreaming
Dreamer, a little frail, a little touched some people say
I believe she’s been hurt, she wasn’t ever born that way
Keeps a candle burning bright to guide him home on that stormy night
But he is gone, so she keeps him close while dreaming
Just dreaming, dreaming

Knows by heart every letter he sent and he will never know how much it meant t
So she keeps them close while dreaming, just dreaming, dreaming
Now she carries her heart around on her sleeve
she needs someone safe who will never leave
And take away the tears, take away the pain
the tears and the pain, the tears and the pain
