Tainted beauty
South Africa, this beautiful country of ours, Cape Town and Pretoria our mighty towers,
our rainbow nation ruled by democracy, is it true or just hypocrisy
Could be a land with so much for me and you, but corruption in charge what do we do,
so many hungry so many broke, politicians have enough dough to choke
and everyone is living in ignorance, if you knew what was going on it makes no sense,
why you would just sit back and let it happen, so I’m gonna tell you all and I’m a-tell y’all rappin’
Chorus
So this is how I see it, and I’m gonna express
crime gone wild, being a witness
never gonna stop, watch me spit this,
and I’m tryna make a point not just trying to diss this
What am I gonna do, what are you going to,
Political crew, it’s time to be true
Before we’re all through, we need to change our view
I can see it and I know you can too
One of our basic needs is safety, but now you can’t even walk around safely,
cops are the biggest gang around, taking bribes pound for pound
killing protestors common occurrence, so why invest where’s the insurance
Mandela had a dream he really did care, but the way it’s going now it’s more like a nightmare
if you haven’t heard shots you must be deaf, I’m not even scared no more I’m expecting death,
but before they say in peace I must rest, I challenge the whole country to get us out of this mess.
Chorus
So this is how I see it, and I’m gonna express
crime gone wild, being a witness
never gonna stop, watch me spit this,
and I’m tryna make a point not just trying to diss this
What am I gonna do, what are you going to,
Political crew, it’s time to be true
Before we’re all through, we need to change our view
I can see it and I know you can too
Turn on the news and what do I hear, the fuzz starting to be the ones to fear,
thought they were supposed to make us feel safe, now I hear that they’re the ones doing the rape,
good but bad like Professor Snape, but we don’t got magic this stuff ain’t fake,
we need a change to solve this crisis, or we are gonna stay stuck in these vices
we need to shake the ground and be more than a tremor, this is a our land and that you remember
I have a dream and I know that’s cliché, but I think you should all hear what I have to say,
dreams of a place where our kids can play, where the streets are safe whether it’s night or day
we need to stand together united as one, got a lot to say but for now I am done
