Sunshine gun

I remember standing at the grave
thinking how did it come to this
I was holding you tightly
both your hands were clutched into fists

I have lived so many lives
but I’m not old
who knew taking your life
would be something so bold

time heals all wounds they say
but the rest are too painful to remember
because the day we fret about the future
is the day we give our childhood away

every loneliness is a pinnacle
and the pain drives you insane
as you reach for that sunshine gun
to shoot the pain away

let’s find some beautiful place
some beautiful place to get lost

we can get through this dark together
you don’t have to be alone
I promised you, forever
even when your heart turns to stone

every loneliness is a pinnacle
and the pain drives you insane
as you reach for that sunshine gun
to shoot the pain away
