A total of ten books were shortlisted for the Alan Paton Award and the Sunday Times Fiction Prize at the shortlist announcement of the 2014 Sunday Times Literary Awards in association with Exclusive Books held in Franschhoek on 17 May 2014. The overall winners of both awards will be announced on 28 June in Johannesburg.
