People are revolting

I know the times are testing you
stressing you to keep pressing through
Attracting you to act and do things that aren't best for you
Junk food for dinner then you work till two
to make money for bills and the rest is food
You go to work, fake a smile, it’s the best you can do
to keep up the act like wrestlers do
I know I may sound like a hater or a pessimist too
but in fact, my friend, in essence it’s true

So if your mind’s like mine, always sifting
forgetting things like they never existed
You don't remember nothing ‘cause you don't remember listening
Then pay attention and remember this then
Once upon a time, there was a resistance
Always vigilant and always persistent
Where freedom wasn't an option, but often insisted
and if there was a war, people proudly enlisted
Not to fight against flesh, but corrupted systems
set to rob us all of our very existence

So now snipers that would leave you lifeless
could be watching me from rooftops even while I write this
But despite this, I still keep fighting with tight fists
and never lose sight, even through the excitement
And even the government wants to get close to me
maybe string me up for treason from a post or a tree
For speaking my mind when I'm not supposed to be
They only like us when we’re nowhere close to free
Trust me, I get that it’s quite a plea
to consider what’s happening behind the scenes
Or to consider possibilities of a Higher Being
maybe guiding your life for higher means
Truth is, this show is run by political fascists
that determine your worth ‘cause they determine what cash is
An’ we gotta stick to the script an’ play our parts like actors?
Know what, man? I've actually had it
I'm totally through, the time for rebellion is so overdue
When’s the last time that you overthrew
a corrupt system that didn't care about you?
While their ultimatums lead to altercations
that have the ability to alter nations
Possibility is infinity if you harness patience
but try as you will, you cant halt inflation
Regardless of your dull occupation
it’s all part of enhancing abominations
We're a part of the rat race an’ now we're caged in
There's gotta be a better life than what were facing

See, in my heart I'm an artist, though i hardly do my part
It was a hobby just to start, now it’s hard just to stop
Yet my eyes are still washed with stained clothes and varnish
the real world is so harsh, that's why this art is so honest
And the year of Obama's upon us, human rights have tarnished
It’s time to stand up and take back our rights and honour
But it’s hard to stand and be good principally
when the media's stripped our individuality
Like back then a profile was just you from the side
but now it’s a site, spewing our entire private lives
It’s a mighty fine disguise if you're really trying’a hide
But you could rather be you, the real one of a kind
