"New Light" by Eugene Venterr

New Light

The past has been harmful, you have been living in the shade
Tried every exit, but the doors shut in your way
You have no hope left, you throw yourself in the gutter
You think nobody loves you, so what does it matter?

Take a look around and examine the space
People looking happy, people living lives of grace
Look deeper and you will see the error of their ways
They have poker faces and they pretend not to be slaves

CHORUS:
You and me, we have hands around our throats
We are slowly fainting and sinking in our boats
No matter what we do, there is no escape
But times are changing, the sun is about to light our day

So many languages, most of us don't even understand our own
So many cultures, so many people don't wanna explore their own
Scared of what they might find, scared of the truth carved in stone
We are like ants in our unknown universe, keep on denying but we are not alone

Much like your life, I see you like to stay behind
Follow the leader, follow the pack, be careful they don't turn you blind
Your mind is strong, don't let it slack
Create your own future and don't look back

CHORUS

Don't cover your eyes, don't be scared
when the time comes for the light to shine
Follow the light, you'll be surprised of what you will find
