Never seeing
All that I used to do was look,
Never seeing,
My thoughts dashing through sentimental compassion
As the ground rushed closer I saw,
my own foolish procrastination
I was keeping an eye on the world through a straw
All that I used to do was look,
Never seeing,
I never even bothered to read more
than the back of the book
I walked straight past the open door
Caught like a circus horse
In a life filled with hateful remorse
All that I used to do was look,
Never seeing,
That whenever it’s pushed down
It will most certainly happen
Like water dripping, relentlessly tapping and tapping
A background noise,
Something prodigious, bearing more than a crown
Hatching and hatching
And it all began
with an opinionated frown
and your unjudging beauty
All that I used to do was look,
Never seeing,
‘Twas stupid to seek something in nothing
Meanwhile sending it snowballing
Into something famish …
And all of a sudden you made it vanish
oh, you made it vanish …
