"My Last Words" by Steven Howley

My Last Words

I thought about writing a song about you
Another poem, another silly line just for you
More lines about how I still think about you
More lines about how I thought one day we could be friends

But my words never did a thing for you
Another silly song, that’s all you ever thought
So no more lines about how beautiful you were
No more lines about how you used to make me feel

CHORUS:
These are the last words that I’ll ever write for you
I’ll never let you in my head again
It’s taken many years but it’s finally time for me to say
I’m moving on.

Your words have left lasting scars on my soul
Another insult, it never mattered to you
But I’ve gotten really good at hiding all these scars in me
In a place I never have to see them again

CHORUS

I’m happier now than I ever was with you around
Never felt better
Never better
There’s no more space in my head for you

That’s why these are the last words that I’ll ever write for you
I’ll never let you in my head again
It’s taken many years but it’s finally time for me to say
I’m moving on
