My father's words
When I was a young boy
My father said to me
Son, life’s not easy
When you grow up to be a man
Remember my words to you
CHORUS:
Whatever you do
just ask yourself these questions
What would Jesus have said?
What would Jesus have done?
Whatever you do
remember my words
Keep them close to your heart
Make them part of your life
As I lived my life
I’ve made many mistakes
And then remembered his words
My father grew old
Then only I realised
That he, my father, was right
CHORUS
Then the day came that my father passed
I remember the tears
In my little boy’s eyes
When he stood next to the grave
and he dropped in a rose
And he said, Grandpa, we’ll miss you
CHORUS
And he said, Grandpa, we’ll miss you
