Ideals and reality are so far aparts
Oppression is a social disease
It robbed them from their land
Buried them in the sand
It took away their pride
And sent them for a ride
Perhaps it made the world a sadder place

Harassment is a total disgrace
A gravy train for all
With backs against the wall
There’s anger in their pride
There’s hate that cannot hide
Perhaps it’s true that freedom is not free
Here and there and everywhere
People in despair
Carrying loads so hard to bear
That nobody wants to share
Ideals and reality are so far apart
Violence is a worldwide concern
The East against the West
Struggle for what is best
There’s beauty and there’s pain
There’s sunshine and there’s rain
Perhaps it turned the whole world upside down
Perhaps it’s time we turn the world around
Perhaps it’s time we made this world a better place
