"Floating on Air" by Emmerentia van Zyl

Floating on Air

Cruising down a coastal street
Roll down my window, wanna feel the salt sea breeze
whip my face
My skin tingles from the night’s embrace
My senses are in harmony
With the steady beat of tonight’s new melody
Never heard before
Guess it takes something special to know

What the night has got in store
For those who knock on the door
And the veil is stripped away
As my watch ticks 10:52
I lean out my window
Close my eyes
Surprised when I don’t switch to you
Too pre-occupied

CHORUS:
Why are the stars shining so bright?
Chariots of fire in the night
How do we know
that they aren’t watching every move we make?
Where does the ocean’s ripples end?
Like a sea of writhing dunes
Don’t really care
All I know is that I’m floating on air
Don’t need you because I’m floating on air

Adrenaline courses through my veins
Feels good to discard my chains, throw them over the wall
onto the sand
From here on out I claim this land
Just drove pass the Tiki Bar
People drink and laugh, but they don’t see they’ve come too far
To be like they are
That was me, but now I know

What the night has got in store
For those who knock on the door
And the veil is stripped away
As my watch ticks 11: 01
The street’s lights reflect
off the sea
Seem to pierce the darkness, and reveal a sun
Gleaming just for me

CHORUS
