Everyday Acts of Violence

For now the young kids are secure
but not long from now they'll be kicking in the door
And even though every road leads to a church
it won't help us much if they find us first
Rebellious, reformed and upright
And even though the streets are bright
our skin is the colour of the cold dark night

Come nightfall we'll abduct the fathers from their wives
and we'll drag them to where no one can hear their cries
Some of them pray that they'll never wake
I hope so too, ‘cause there's lives at stake
We'll teach the orphaned children to act
to act in full compliance
To close their hearts and close their eyes
to the everyday acts of violence
