Dreams

Close your eyes and you will see
what was told to Nebuchadnezzar by Daniel
Dreams and what’s left is to get a vivid picture
so you can make them come true
I came through the darkness of the night with nothing but nightmares
These are tough times, it’s so hard to live by yourself when nobody cares
You tryin’a keep the faith but your intimacy with God is fading
You share God’s Word with peers who call you saint
You call yourself a Christian when you know that you faking
you’ve stopped praying, stopped believing and started living
the life that you’re gonna regret
You started trapping what you hate most; sins, it’s like you the magnet
you went to the Anglican Church of St Margaret but you couldn’t find help
You started thinking that maybe you’re cursed, 'cause your eye is fixed on wealth
You living with your uncle, plus he hates you
and you started having poor psychological health
You hate the fact that your love for him is fading in stealth
You’re suffocating in this environment
a place called home has turned out to be a place called hell
Oh well, you starting to realize why your cousin is doing time in a cell
You look for alternatives, but you see that felony is an option
You wish that your mother could have had an abortion
You wish yourself to death, but can’t die
You keep on holding on, ‘cause you know you chasing the dream

You didn’t survive exclusion from varsity
and in your mind you know you’ll find peace, ‘cause Cape Town is the city
You’ve been having tough times and sleepless nights
A life full of plights and mental fights
You’ve been offered a piece job, but it turns out to be a daily torture
You now understand that if you hate education life will scorch ya
When you quit the job you become an outcast
Your uncle can’t live with you, ‘cause he claims you’re useless
and too much for him to handle
You realize these are times of trials and tribulations
You try to turn to God and fast
but the devil keeps on reminding you of the past
When your father denied you in front of his girlfriend
all you’ve got left is phone calls from your true friends
When they check on you, they tell you to hold on and keep your faith in God
you doubt that you’ll make it, in this life you’re bored
You reminisce about your grandma and how she’s found peace
You’re thinking of million ways to die so that your pain can cease
But you can’t kill yourself ‘cause you’re scared
You realize you’re better off with this life of yours spared
You’re scared of death, ‘cause when you sleep forever
you’ll be surprised to see that the dreams you’re chasing
are still hard to catch

My faith woke me up from bad dreams, when I opened my eyes it was real
I saw the devil and obstructions implanting darkness in my way
Through faith the light will shine upon my way and the darkness will fade away
Bad dreams will turn out to be good dreams
